The READI HRF office promotes human rights in ASEAN with the aim to publicize human rights issues and actions and increase awareness about human rights—benefits to the whole community and consequences of human rights abuses to the whole community.

Despite ASEAN’s commitment to human rights, a great challenge the sector faces in Southeast Asia is the lack of public knowledge regarding the roles and work of ASEAN human rights bodies/committees. In turn, this is a contributing factor in implementing their mandates at the national level.

With this in mind, the READI HRF office supports our four beneficiaries AICHR, ACWC, ACW, and ACMW in raising awareness of their work through workshops and regional meetings, youth debates, strengthening institutional capacity, setting performance standard, and informative publications.
