Monitoring and Evaluation of AADMER

Technical Workshop on the Roll-out of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System for the AADMER Work Programme 2010-2015, 9-10 April 2015, Jakarta, Indonesia

The Technical Workshop on the Roll-out of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System for the AADMER Work Programme 2010-2015 (AWP) was held on 9-10 April 2015, in Jakarta, Indonesia. In attendance were representatives from the National Disaster Management Organisations (NDMOs) in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mynamar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. Representatives from the AHA Centre, the AADMER Partnership Group (APG) and ACDM-CSO Partnership Framework (ACPF) network, and ASEAN Secretariat were also present. The 2-day workshop is a follow-up activity of the workshop of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) on “Enhancing and Sustaining an M&E System to Track ASEAN Performance on Disaster Management and Emergency Response” in October 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this workshop, the participants discussed and agreed on the AWP M&E Logic Model (results chain). Both workshops were supported by the EU READI.

The technical workshop provided a venue for representatives from the NDMOs from the respective ASEAN Member States to have a shared understanding of the content, scope, and expectations on the M&E system and its roll-out. Through this workshop, the participants were able to jointly develop and agree on a work plan and coordination arrangements for data gathering and consolidation. The participants expressed strong commitment in delivering data from the national level that contributed to the implementation of the AWP. These will then be consolidated with data from the regional level in order to capture information on implementing the AWP 2010-2015 as well as telling the “story” of ASEAN’s accomplishments in disaster management and emergency response.
